Game 1 - Japan's goal huge ? over it....ref gives it then says sorry!?!?!

Game 2 - A huge foul count against us 25-9 or something? Since the refs think we are a dirty team

Game 3 - Ref uses are new rule of you need 3 yellow cards to get a red card. a hand ball in the box and you can rugby tackle Vadiuka in the box

Game 4 - last minute... some foul in the box...another ref making another huge mistakes...this one sends us home.

Wow just our luck we get the ref's that have something against us.

Cahill sums it up right here is this article...very well said.

An angry Tim Cahill has lashed out at referee Luis Medina Cantalejo's decision to award a penalty in the dying moments of the second-round match against Italy in Kaiserslautern.

Cahill pulled no punches in his assessment of Medina Contalejo's call to point to the spot after Fabio Grosso and Lucas Neill tangled in the penalty box. Francesco Totti slotted the penalty to allow ten-men Italy to escape with a win they hardly deserved and knock the Aussies out of the tournament.

"I just can't believe it mate, we play all our lives, to work hard, and I suppose these days, you fall over on the pitch, you get a penalty, free kick or whatever. It's disappointing," the Everton midfielder said.

"I'm furious. It's unbelievable, the luck we've had with refereeing this World Cup, everything's been against us. We've fought hard to just make everything work for us, and in the end the hard work hasn't come through for us."

Cahill admitted his anger was divided between Grosso and Medina Contalejo, and it would take some time before he recovered from the disappointment.

"The thing is, maybe we're too honest. We'd prefer to go out of the World Cup with our heads held up high than to stay in it under those circumstances," he said.
"We're supposed to stay on our feet. Simulation, and all these things we get told before the World Cup, it's just disappointing, I went up for a header with Materazzi, he came down and held his head, he's six foot seven and I got the yellow card."

Cahill was at a loss to explain the referee's decision to award the penalty but said perhaps he felt he shouldn't have sent of Materazi in the 50th minute.

"Always referees are looking to even things up. It's just happens, I suppose. It's disappointing," he said. "Sometimes, refs get star struck, but it's there for everyone to see today. Lucas hasn't touched him, and he's just fallen over."

"It's one decision, it's changed everything, it's changed Australian football, it's changed our lives as players. We work so hard to be where we are."

Cahill conceded Australia hadn't helped its cause by failing to convert its numerical dominance after Materazi's exit.

"Anyone who saw the game could see that we played really well, and fair enough we didn't put the ball into the back of the net but I suppose we just paid the penalty," he said.

"People might say, well pat on the back, you've done well and you've proved everyone wrong, but we haven't. We should still be in this World Cup."

However, Cahill believes Australia had brought a great deal to the World Cup and that progress has been made.

"Honesty, discipline. We've been bright, colourful, we like having a laugh, we've been ourselves," he said. "It shows how far we have come as a nation, that we are so disappointed to lose to Italy."

You guys are as whiny as us when you get knocked out of the World Cup.

The sending off was harsh for Italy and I doubt Australia were ever going to score past the Italians even though they were a man up. They kind of let themselves get robbed imo.

Wow just our luck we get the ref's that have something against us.
Game 1 - Cahill should have given away a penalty to Japan just after he scored his first goal but the ref missed it, he should also have been booked and since it would have been his second yellow, he would have gone for that challenge and missed the next game. Japan's (Zico's) tactical naivity enabled an Aussie team which never looked like scoring to get three(!) goals in the last ten minutes.

Game 2 - The Aussies kicked the shit out of Brazil but, somehow, managed to escape with only two yellows when all around players are getting sent off by different refs for much less. Bizarrely, Brazil end up with more yellows than Australia.

Game 3 - The inadequate ref showered Croatia with cards of both colours while the Aussies, again, escaped with just two. Graham Poll also allowed an offside Kewell goal and, although outplayed, the Aussies get the draw they were after.

Game 4 - Yet again, the ref favours Australia by sending off an Italian with a straight red when the challenge wasn't all that bad and Materazzi certainly wasn't the last man.

    How lucky were you lot!

Bottom line is that you get good luck as well as the bad. Refs don't mean to favour any team but if you're passionate about a particular side, it always seems as if the ref is biased against you. They rarely are, however.
