How To Turn Avis Into Vobs

im using nero to make a dvd i have some avis but nero says it needs vobs so how do i turn them into vobs? anyone help

not having a dvd-r i don't know if this will work 4 u but looking at the specs, ULEAD DVD movie factory http://www.ulead.co.uk/dmf/compare.htm seems to be able to create a dvd from avi's
