Change to a NEC burner: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827152058

You could also get a Floopy drive with card reader built-in: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16821104104

I would also suggest that you build it on socket 939.

    3200+ CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103535

    RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145440

    Mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813138264

Offers dual channel memory at almost the same price. In fact it's a bit cheaper overall if you choose the CPU I posted.

You could even go with the 3000+ for further savings:

Ya, go with the 3000+ as you said, your dad's only gonna be using it for internet and email and stuff, not video editing and games.

Not to mention, atleast for me anyway, It could be EASILY OCed to atleast the speed of a 3700+ anyway if the slight extra speed is even needed.

    No, it's legit.
    Full license, not temporary.

I could be contrary and recommend the 64 bit version of Pro, but I won't.

    Consider it a gift.
