My iPod Nano 4gb has been just sitting idle on a table since it's last use in my truck. It was working just fine when I last used it. Today I picked it up and it had this symbol with the text www.apple.com/support/ipod written below it:

I couldn't do anything, it was frozen. I went to the appropriate website where I began going through the troubleshooting tips one-by-one, but to no avail. The only one of the steps that made any difference was resetting the iPod. It now shows the iPod recharging (small icon in upper right corner) with a check mark in the center of the screen and the text OK to disconnect, all of which are in black and not utilizing the nice color screen.

I thought that maybe the iPod was fixed at first, but when I disconnect the iPod, it goes directly back to the folder and exclamation mark.

I did see a sticky involving Norton Disk Doctor, but; 1) There were no posts verifying that anyone actually got this to work and 2) Said iPod was not a Nano.

    Any advise for me??

Click for more activation options, then activate by telephone. Run the keygen.
if I call them, aren't they going to get me? (you know, down there)

Nope. Same text, but the pic displayed on my iPod is the one posted above in my original post.

Yeah, iTunes should do that automatically (and it tries), but the software locks up.

I went to an Apple/Mac store today and they looked at it for about 15 minutes and then gave me a new iPod (which kicks ass b/c the one I had was waaaay scratched up).

The thing I found odd was that the woman asked if I had a PC and I replied that I did. She said, "That figures. 8 of 10 times this happens it's with PC customers". I figured with 90% of the population owning PC's over Mac's that they would weed out the bugs, unless of course she was just trying to sell me a Mac.

Did you not read the above post? I already got a new iPod.

It was frozen and wouldn't do anything anyhow.
