Thread: USB 80mm Fan

    got bored/need something to cool my router down, so i tryed hooking a 80mm fan up to 3 AA batteries and it worked (also tryed 4)

    so i got a old usb mouse wire from a old mouse i took apart and i got a 80mm fan running off the USB:

    That's odd, because none of my systems will supply power to the USB port unless they recognise the component (and therefore how much power it consumes).

    I suppose it might work if the port was configured to run from 5v standby.

    im sure there is some driver out there..like that is strong enough to power the fan that you could trick windows into thinking it was...
