Cannot Access The Site

Since The Great Rebuild Of 2006 there have been a number of members having difficulty accessing the site.
RealitY has apparently been in contact with those techies with their hands on the actual equipment, and the upshot is that it seems to work fine if you clean out your cache and cookies, then reboot.

Doesn't work for me.

Has anyone found the root of the problem? What changed some days ago?

Has the IP changed?

If so, it could be that the DNS changes have not propogated properly and some users are still being directed to the old server. However, that wouldn't explain why some people can't get on even using the IP address.

I had the same problems a couple of days ago, and I assumed it was just part of the corruption which hadn't been sorted completely. Clearing cache and cookies didn't help, but everything's fine for me now.

I have noticed this sort of problem a couple of times in the past (not just here), and the only way I've been able to get access is via a US-based proxy. It would be interesting to know if the same thing solves other users' problems.

I have used proxies from the US and elsewhere and they worked.

I can't access the site without a proxy again, it worked bareback for a while and then I had to use protection.

That's possible and I just sent a email to the techies asking if that could be it.

I just got an email from the main tech. support guy. Apparantly he installed some filter on the server to block certain adresses and possible attacks because of the attacks we got last week...
He said he has removed the filter now because of all the problems so hopefully everyone can access the forum now.

I can access the site again now..I did clear my cache and deleted the fst cookies but did not reboot...thanks Ad and bert

Wow... it's great to be back. I haven't been able to get in for three days. I was going through the heebee geebees (slang for withdrawl) without the forum. Thanks to those who work so hard keeping it going!!! We all appreciate your efforts.
