That would be like saying "Those are ros's shoes"

Spears's (Spearses (ph)) would also be wrong, so we drop the second "s".

not true. Spears's is correct. I specifically remember one of my high school english teachers.. one of those grammar fanatics.. tell me "It's not Mr. Collins', It's not Mr. Collins's!!" after handing in my paper on Pride and Prejudice

Whereas this is a seriously old topic, I too reckon that the correct genitive form of that would be "Britney Spears's boobs". Which I actually kinda' think is right. (Since it simultaneously marks out that it's a singular, which is a nice touch.)

Unless there are many Britney Spears, then it's Britney Spears'.

EDit: English used to have the same system as ours, ie no apostrophe at all. I think plurals actually went something like "Spearses", back then, and singulars "Spearss". (We never double s's tho', we cut out the second if there would be two in a row at the end of a word marking gentitive, on account of that geminisation shortens the preceding vowel. In swedish, that is.)
