To me, soccer doesn't have alot of "showtime". Unless there's a score or red card 'cause someone's face got crunched by an elbow, it's rather uneventful.

Watching a 0 - 0 tie is like fucking with no orgasm. Soccer is not the only sport guilty of this, btw. I once went to a cold fucking football game between the Redskins and Giants which ended in a 7 - 7 tie.

I fucking sat in the nosebleed section drinking cold beer about to piss myself for that game.

Soccer is the world's sport but of course America is very different than the rest of the world is so many respects that it's not surprising that it's not so popular here. We are not on a better wavelength but merely on a different one.
