It's been years since I've wet a line; inexcusable, really, given that I live and work near the baddest lake on earth.

With regards to the fishing, I'm much like you. I haven't been for over ten years now - I used to be fanatical about it, but then discovered wetting something other than my line was much more rewarding.
If it wasn't for hawt chicks, I'd still be manipulating my rod on desolate river banks each weekend.

As I remember, getting the chicks to manipulate any and all rods in evidence was top plan; sort of made my fishing jaunts an "observation only" endeavor.I really will have to get back to you on that.
