For Linux, i use Swiftfox instead of firefox.. Its firefox, only compiled specificly for your processor so it runs really fast. Its fully compatable with all the extensions and themes.

    Check it: http://www.getswiftfox.com

To install it, just download the package that matches your processor and extract the contents. Then just run swiftfox to start the program.
    blah blah blah... whatever...

you might find the yum option will give you the 686 version anyway. would also have alook through to make sure you have the 686 kernel as well since it comes standard with the 386 one.

Simply download it from mozilla, untar the firefox folder and has root replace the default firefox folder (usuly in the /opt directory) with the new one. But realy you can install it to your home folder if you want and create new shortcuts to it there.
