I don't see anything wrong with them asking new members to pay to join. Of course, no way in hell I would pay. But if I got a free pass while everybody else had pay to join, I would take it. And so would a lot of people I know. That's probably where the current members find themselves. Their membership is suddenly worth some money evey if they didn't have to pay for it. So asking them to give it up aint gonna work.
