What part were you in? You said you said you had tapas or something didn't you? The only place (that i'm aware of) that does that is near the noth end of the town, past all the pubs and clubs. There are three streets that are pretty much just pubs and clubs.

edit: had you walked about 400 metres southwards along the seafront, you would have found all the bars and clubs.
