Animation, Who Knows What

Hey all I've been "goof'n" around with 3d..stuff for a few months with the demo version of Strata3d. I like this program because it was easy to learn.

Now that I am wanting to get into more than making simple objects (spaceships, mech/robots) I want to get into animating these. Strata has lots of limitations (due to it being just a demo version), so I downloaded Maya 4.5. I'm in the process of downlloading every type of manual I can get my hands on

I find the "learning curve" extremely...high I don't really know how to make "simple" things unlike I did with Strata3d.

Are there any Maya, or Strata users (if you have a complete copy of Strata, would you put it on Kazaa?). If so, whats your take on using Maya?
