    morning folks!

No you cant rename or move whilst dl but i can right click and drag then click copy whilst dl. Is there anyone else who can do this or are you all too scared to try. its getting mighty f*%$ing boring this thread isn't it.

    please prove or disprove it.

anyway i live in london and am willing to prove it if anyone can 'see' properly. Anyone for a small wager?

    Now,,,,,,,,,,, where's my skunk gone!

Oh Christ, now I see what you are talking about.

VCDs or VideoCDs have a .dat file which contains the data for the movie. You can open this file with WMP and some other types of software.

The file we were talking about here, is also a .dat file, but its a kazaa data file, sorta like a temp file, until the download is completed. While they have the same extension, they are very different things. Use can use Datview to open a partially downloaded .dat file, and view it, to see if it named correctly.

For a second, I thought maybe i'd smoked too much pot.
You were proven wrong when I figured out that we were talking about two different things.

Um, it works. You can copy any. dat file while it's downloading to another folder. I didn't know you could open it with virtualdub but you can as well. It doesn't work for me though in WMP or Zoom Player, even if I rename the extension to .avi.

edit: Maybe it's the skunk that helps it work...

    What have you proven?

This temp file .dat is basically just an image of the finished avi, mpeg or whatever and some files can be opened with wmp without renaming. It see's the files index and displays the complete running time, when it runs out of data you get an error message and it shuts.

Ive got an ms mpeg4 codec installed is this why i can do it?

come on people 'suck em and see'
