It doesn't work for me though in WMP or Zoom Player, even if I rename the extension to .avi.
No of course not, because they are two different things. I really don't know why you would go thru all the trouble of copying, then pasting, then opening a renamed preview file, when you can you DatView, a program designed for this very purpose.
Do you always take the long way home? B)

No, I use K-Dat and Avi Preview like everyone else. It's just everyone was saying it didn't work, so I thought I'd back him up. It was done more for curiosity's sake than anything else.

Thanx skillian, may your team have good luck and fortune next year

The reason i do it is because if the file is corrupt you can fix it with divfix or just play around with it, i lost a download in the beginning, when i was on dialup , 2 and a half weeks for monsters inc then bt tell me "you've used your months 150 hours", Stick it!
Ive never tried datview either by the way, is it any good?
anyway thats my first heated debate in a forum and i think i like it!

Ladies ladies ladies!
I use Vdub too. The bottom line is, no matter what any 1 says is that vdub is a way to preview a file. surely u can just press ctrl+c over ya file and then ctrl+v anywhere u want it. Then open the file in virtualdub. It "repairs the index" and u can then "save as .avi" using direct stream or sumthin" then WMP or whateva u hav can play it.
im definately not a comp/movie geek but i hav been using it 4 ages. (that is b4 i found the avi preview k-lite thing)
i enjoyed the debate by the way!
