I used to work for a recycling place and we would get used computer rom drives in huge boxes on occasion. I would go through them on my off time and open them with the pin trick to see if there was a disk inside (I got alot of software this way) I ran across one that would not open and I could tell there was a disk inside so I took it apart. What I found was a little strange, above the tray was a round pad that was magnetic which would hold the disk suspended during spin. It had magnetically stuck to the lower disk and had pulled away from its top holder so I pushed it back in, took the disk and the drive and I still use it every once in awhile. Its possible that this is what happened to yours, the magnetic pad pulled out of its holder and as long as its stuck to the bottom pad the tray will not open.
So I brought it back to the store and they opened it up. Apparently the DVD jammed the tray and it works normally again. Thanks for all the help everyone.
