You know those auto generated reg backups that windows makes?
Umm where does it put them?
Yesterday I could'nt boot my comp after using a registry program.
    Really messed it up!
I chose to use an emergency boot disk and ran reg/restore and it used backups that windows created.
    Where are they kept?

    OS-ME...no derogatory comments please

just do a search on your computer for *.reg
this should return the reg backup

c:\windows\SYSBCKUP (that's in 98se though in a hidden folder ( I think this is just a backup tool folder
    Thats it!
    Thanx!
I wanted to know the location so I could put my own backup there

After looking in there I see that these are much more than just reg backups!

These are the files it used when I booted in dos and used scanreg/restore to restore the reg.
    Can't put em there!
Does anyone know how and when windows makes these backups in c:\windows\SYSBCKUP ?
They are rar files(on my sys) containing several dat files.

My system informayion prog is not working correctly!
A dialog box pops up and reads"wrong option(null)".
But I got there by typing scanregw.exe in "run".
    Trippy about sys info!
    I never use it.
I always use something like SANDRA(excellent program) or something else.
Hey you've been a big help!
    Thank you!
Do you know anything I can do about this "system info" not working?
    That is...short of a reinstall.
