After almost two weeks off - well off and on that is - I am going back to work today. Would have been okay had I been paid for the sick leave.
I injured my knee at my cousin's wedding, Jon and I were doing the time warp and when we jumped to the left, I went crashing to the floor. So I was off work a couple days due to the knee injury. I went back to work before it was completely healed, and in my daily ritual of mass stair climbing it kept giving out which in turn caused me to sprain my ankle. I tried to work through it, but by last Wednesday it was so wobbly I couldn't get up and down the stairs at all so I was off again. On Monday, I thought it would be okay to return to work, but after two flights of stairs it swelled to about the size of a grapefruit and I couldn't put weight on it again, so I came home. I've been laid up on the sofa for the last three days now, and I can finally see my ankle bone again, so I've decided that today I will return to work.
The moral of the story? I should have listened to Jon when he told me I was being stubborn two weeks ago and taken the time off to let my knee heal. Or for that matter, when he said I should have spent more time sitting down at the wedding instead of playing the role of Dancing Queen. I can't believe I'm saying this, but he was right.
