I think you want the software section, I'll move it there.
I assume you actually mean encoding a video rather than uncoding. You simply don't have the resources to do that sort of operation efficiently. It is a process which needs lots of memory and a powerful processor and your system simply isn't up to the task.
Explain more about the source of the video, it could be that you don't actually need to encode it.

Im supprised XP even runs on that system. You cant do anything about that..you simply need a new computer. I have a Sempron 3500+ with 512 of ram and it takes aout 45 min to back up a movie.
Some programs take longer than others also, ppl did what u trying on older puters also.
What program are you using to "uncode"?
How large is the video file?
What's the original filetype and what are you changing it to?
Is the problem that its taking too long? Please try to point the problem out and please elaborate on what uncode means.
