Jeeze... just think of your electricity bills!
Put your computer in Hibernation mode, that way, it barely generates any electricity.

Also, if you have CRT, just turn the monitor off, they can get really hot! [/b][/quote]
Hmm...

Question, maybe a stupid question so i'll apoligize in advance

If you put your pc into Hibernation do your d/loads continue as normal??

Dont really understand Hibernation mode, never used it.

you can't really lol

disable hibernation mode and save yourself a hundred megs for something useful like downloads

Hibernation= pointless!

You still have to stop/pause your d/loads as you still have to turn off.

I guess most ppl have their pc on for so long because they are d/loading big files (me included) so therefore Hibernation is pretty useless here,as you cant d/l AND be in Hibernation.

Never mind at least i just noticed it was turnrd on so off it goes now, freeing up some resources.

Duties are not performed for duty's sake, but because their neglect would make the man uncomfortable. A man performs but one duty - the duty of contenting his spirit, the duty of making himself agreeable to himself.

Fair enough. I just don't see the point in leaving your comp on when its not needed. Maybe if you run one of the seti things (which I want to read more about).

I leave my pc off overnight and during school as it's not needed at those times.

Also tell this to your parent's or errrr yourselfs as relief.
A PC only uses 12p (sorry yanks, dunno the current exchange rate ) for 12hours usage.

Mine is always on. I reboot every now and again. It is good to make your HDD shut down after 45 mins or so, just to stop the spinning. Other than that, leaving the computer on is healthy. Also, turn off the monitor when not in use like someone mentioned above.

All in all, it is like having 4, 60watt bulbs on.
