Thread: What NewsHosting Logs!

  1. #11
    Just got this.......

    Hello,

Newshosting has received a copyright complaint stating that you, or
someone using your account, have posted copyrighted material without
    authorization from the copyright holder.

During the sign-up process, you agreed to abide by our Terms of Service
which include provisions regarding the posting of copyrighted material.
Please review our Terms of Service at
    http://www.newshosting.com/en/newsho...of-service.php.
Posting copyrighted material to Newshosting servers without the
permission of the copyright holder is a violation our Terms of Service
and is grounds for immediate account cancellation. You are hereby
directed to cease the posting of copyrighted material.

This will be the only notice you receive from Newshosting regarding the
posting of copyrighted material. Upon receipt of an additional notice,
your account will be canceled immediately, and you will be ineligible
for a refund of account subscription fees.

Again, this will serve as your only warning. Stop posting copyrighted
materials to Newshosting' servers or your account will be canceled
    without further notice.

Your posting privileges have been revoked. We will consider reinstating
posting privileges upon receipt of written notice of your intent to
abide by our Terms of Service and assurance that you will not post
    copyrighted material to our servers.

    Regards,

    Newshosting Abuse Department

Let me get this straight... you thought SSL would conceal your posts from the very server you're uploading to?

Wait, what's the lesson to be learned, use a different NGP?
Is that just a Newshosting thing, they just suck balls?

No, it is and always has been the law per the DMCA so don't be surprised by this, it is nothing new and any NSP that wants to keep its doors open complies

Exactly. The notice is just part of the way they insulate themselves from secondary infringement liability. In actuality, the notice is really very pro-customer when you consider that they allow you to keep your account and will even reinstate your posting privileges easily. So the provider does not "suck balls."

    I hadn't looked into it

So how do prolific posters / groups manage to upload all the time? Proxies?

I was just posting stuff that wasn't already uploaded for anyone else that was looking for it... I'm not a big fish!

Proxies would be useless, since posts can easily be tied to your account, so I don't really know.
