haven't read the whole thread but i'm guessing that this hasn't been mentioned:
there's an israeli modification od DC++ called sababa dc, excellent program. It's easy to use, offers multiple source downloading (hence the good speeds), offers connecting to multiple hubs by select them all at once etc..
i know there are other DC++ mods that offer multiple source downloading but i've found sababa dc to be the easiest to use (albeit slightly buggy)

I use ApexDC++ and uTorrent.
