    Surprised/Amazed

    Hello,

I installed Windows xp on my second HD, and I created a new partition.

Now when I want to get the data that left on the other partition, I'm asking to format the drive.

Is there any prog that I might rescue my data?

Thanks a lot for you help
    tDA

Uh. More details. Did you leave XP on your 1st HDD? Did you switch jumpers? Are both HDD connected? Etc.

    The story goes like that:

My other HD crashed, so I installed Windows XP on the other one, (the crashed one went back to the store) I swiched jumpers, I had to.

Right now only one HD connected...

    Thanks for the fast reply.

So the "new" HDD already had data on it? Your situation still not clear.

I will explain until it will be.

I had two HD on my computer with data on it.
One with the OS crashed, the other one still working and have data inside.
I removed the bad HD, and set the working one, and jumpered it as CS (was secondary), now I installed windows xp on it, and in the installation I created a new partition.

Now I want to access the other partition without formating it.

    Any IDea for that?
    Thanks again mate!
    great to see helping people.

I think you will have overwritten what data you had on the second drive,I know you have partioned it,as I understand it you will have formated and overwritten any data on that part of the h'drive, wether you can rescue any data from the other partition I don't know.
You will need some sort of data rescue program.

I have to agree with Gripper.

If you created a partition to install XP you almost certainly must have deleted the existing partition which had your data on it.

Recovering any remaining data will be very difficult and patchy at best. Even a professional recovery team would have severe problems since you will have overwritten the File Allocation Table (FAT32) or the Master File Table (NTFS).
