Thread: Shareaza 1.9 Beta

Funny, though I gave up on the bittorrent aspect. I also wonder does it stay open after completion, and I guess you can't see the upload rate, if it even does, I would hope so, or the point is defeated.

i don't like all in one progs they never work right....
always just one prog working right and the other progs just erroring me and shit.... (in this case isn't connecting to somewhere or dl something)

    and specialy gnutella network clients
i thinks its a waste of time and power (of the dev..)

Unlike the original bittorrent, you don't have to "keep the file open" for others to continue to download. It becomes part of your shared files, and it still available on the bittorrent network for anyone else. I would say this is a huge improvement over the previous functions of that program.

I browse their forums from time to time. I'm actually a little unclear about this. I have a bittorent file in my download broswer that I've trying to finish. Sometimes I go on, and there are no sources, other times there are two or three. This leads me to believe that as users go on/off the network the file becomes shared again when they come back online. This is only my best guess, as I have yet to download a full bittorrent file thru Shareaza. I'll keep you posted.

Seems nobody knows at the moment, maybe it can only upload at completion or not at all, anyway f**k it. You cannot swarm sources from bittorent with g1, g2 or eMule (that I know). So bittorent files appear to only swarm themselves anyway. So what's the point. I have seen files swarm a single download between the other 3, which is great, but never with the bittorent, so whats the benifit. I think this idea was just hype, as bittorent is an open network (to my knowledge), and probably cost very little to add in, if anything. Though, if the file can be accessed during download and whenever the client is connected, even after completion, thus seeding the file in a better manner, then thats great, anything short of that I consider a rip off of what bittorent is about and refuse to support it, and will continue to use bittorent individually.

It would have been ideal to unite Fast Track, but as Paul stated they would have to aquire a license, so it would probably never happen. Although maybe Fast Track could aquire eMule and allow swarming of files between both and maybe G1 or G2, I would actually prefer that to Shareaza as Fast Track still seems to remain faster than all of the of the others put together at Shareaza.

I thought Kazaa was open source, meaning the source code for the program was available for others to work with, hense KazaaLite. Do other programers have to obtain a licence before their client can access the fasttrack network?

Not to my knowledge, Fast Track is licenced and encrypted, there have been many that have tried to access the code in the biz to understand more, though to no success, to possibly agrue any centralized features and argue shutdown.

I forget, though one of the others on Fast Track stopped working and there was a lot of speculation about their not being decentralized and dropping during the Fast Track 1.5 upgrade, turned out they had not paid their dues, I believe it was Morpheus. KaZaalite is just software that has been hacked and even has disclaimer upon installtion that is illegal to use, I hear the folks at Sharman have talked about going after it, but whats the point, as there should be honor amongst theives.

    I also edited above...
