Thread: Codecs

  1. #1
Hi, I'm wondering how I can find out what codec when my movie file fails. I never know what codec the movie I'm playing is using- Is there a way to find out?

    My system:

    900 mhz Duron
    Win2000 Pro
    256 mb ram
    Win Media Player 6.4

    Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

    remove all codec's.
    Install K-lite codec pack (link)
use GSpot Codec Information to find out what codec a movie is using

I'm well aware of knowing about K-lite codecs, but that wasn't the question. What's Gspot Codec info?

gspot is a brilliant program which tells you what codecs a movie needs to be run, it also tells u if u have the necessary codecs and it even attempts to tell u if there is any other problems with the way the film was encoded which would stop u from watching the film. Gspot is included on the klite codec pack and can also be downloaded from a variety of places (try a search on google)
