My dad just bought a new laptop yesterday, a toshiba low end one. Its using a celeronM. Speedfan says the only temp that shows, "HD0" is 50 C. Right now its on my lap using wireless internet. Is this okay?

50C for HD is reasonable.

If my laptop goes over 38C it shuts off instantly.
In my eyes 50C is way to hot.
hey 100% theres a diff in temps for laptops and desktops, i would think laptop parts run at higher temps because the hardware is so close to each other, without many cooling devices...
Well i turned it off and now its on the counter..its idling at 43C. Must have been because its onmy lap.
You should put it away from your cash prizes.
Smith- This has been out a while, but you do know that the heat from holding a laptop on your lap can lead to sterility right?
