Thread: new to NG's neeed help with bad file

    Hi,

    I have installed Grabit and used two .nzb files to download Battlestar Galactica Season 3 Episodes 1 and 2. I was able to unrar Episode 1 and watch it, it turned out perfectly, and it was about 100 times quicker than getting if from a torrent. Amazing!

    However, with Episode 2, part20 of the rar file is an "Incomplete Grab".

    Any idea how to get the complete file? Without it I cannot unrar the file.

    There should be PAR2 files posted with it, and you can use a program like QuickPar to repair the damaged rar.

    ok, will look into getting quickpar

    ok, installed quickpar, how do I get it to repair? point it to the folder? the incomplete file? a par file? a par2 file? all the par files?

    That was like magic, just pulled those missing files out of its arse.

    Today I used it on a program that was made up of 77 rar files and 11 were missing. I kept adding par files and it completely made 11 rar files out of nothing. It didn't even have incomplete files to finish, it made them completely from scratch.

    This may be voodoo!

    You should check everything you download with quickpar. Some files that don't look damaged are. Finding this out down the road can really suck.

    Thanks, I will do that in future with all my DL's.

    This is so amazing that I may have to start wearing an aluminum foil hat. If this works there is no way the CIA doesn't have a way to listen to my thoughts! LOL!

    As a noob is there anywhere I should be looking for stuff that I may be missing. Are there lists of NG's that have the best files on them? I know alt.binaries but any specific ones I should look for.

    Also, there seem to be a lot more files out there than there are nzb files on this and other sites. Are there better sites to find nzb files? I kind of need to find them quick as my server has 4 day rentention.
