I agree with Joan Allen but thought Jeff Daniel's had a more pivotal role.

Macy is Macy...thinking back on his performances (Fargo, The Cooler and myriad smaller parts) he seems to play variations on a theme. Probably heavily influenced by his looks, the semi-hangdog, kinda lost Average Joe, unusually in way over his head.
I'd like to see him and Felicity in a film together.

They were in the TV show Sports Night together. It was the first time I ever noticed Ms. Huffman.

IMDB says that they've worked on quite a few projects together but I don't know if they acted opposite each other in them.

Joan Allen's in the Death Race remake.I guess her career is now officially in the toilet.

Sports Night was/is one of my favorite shows ever...the pacing and dialogue was intoxicating.
That's where Huffman hit my radar as well- see her in Transamerica where she is amazing.

As great as Joan Allen is, I guess everyone needs a paycheck.

    Veronica Guerin- Cate Blanchette.
Veronica Guerin was a real person, a crusading journalist who set out to expose the kingpins behind rampant drug dealing in Dublin.
She was murdered by gangsters and her death prompted the government to crack down on crime.

The movie is a straightforward retelling of the actual events and Blanchette makes a compelling hero.
Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with the real Guerin so my only opinion is based on this film, where she comes across as irresponsibly crazy and headstrong.
Married and the mother of a young boy, Guerin ignores repeated warnings that she will be killed and her family destroyed- her response is to march into the living room of the gangster and ask questions.
    Brave, yes...foolhardy, yes.

As a movie, Veronica Guerin is OK...she's killed within the first 5 minutes (the rest is all flashback), so there's little suspense and I spent the next 100 minutes thinking "What the fuck is she doing?". The ending is her funeral and we're obviously supposed to be manipulated into cheering her martyrdom but it seemed so inevitable and self-inflicted that I was nonplussed.

I'd rate this one as "Meh".

Deception- unlike all my other friends I don't download movies by recommendation or iMDb score, I just snatches the latest movies on the hottest P2P sites.
And I have to say, it wasn't really bad.

    Calendar Girls- Helen Mirren.
What can I say...I saw Helen Mirren was in it and I had to watch.

In 1999, a group of Women's Institute ladies (sort of a Campfire Girls for the middle aged) decided to raise money to memorialize the death of one of the husbands. A mildly racy calendar, featuring the ladies themselves in the nude, turns into a media sensation and they raise a million bucks.
    It's a true story.

The film takes place in a small Yorkshire town and it's beautiful.
Although I didn't see any Hobbits, I'm sure they were there, just out of camera.
No one appears to work and even the husband's death by leukemia is muted and noble.
The only person who is upset by this brouhaha is Mirren's son, who broods atop a giant rock in the hills. I expected him to jump...
    Spoiler: Show

...which would have changed the movie considerably.

Calendar Girls is quintessential Lifetime channel fare...a heartwarming story of nice people who do a nice thing and have fun in the process. There is never a doubt they will succeed and live happily ever after.

My estrogen level doubled during the movie's run time and is only now returning to normal.
I'm not sure if this was a bad thing or not.
