The first bit of Wall.E is as close to art as you are going to find in films today.
And I'm not talking about the rendering.
The Departed ......I resolutely refuse to give a movie anything over an 8 unless it has a happy ending.
Or gratuitous nudity
Hopefully by a woman.
I assume you're referring to the "pre-EVE" segment that begins the film.
I'm going to rewatch the movie anyway, I think I was influenced by watching Let The Right One In right before and I want to go on an Easter egg hunt as well.
First up though is Quantum of Solace.
It's hard work but I'll take one for the team.
Right then.
Quantum of Solace was just pathetic.
Clearly, a lot of money was spent on the setpiece scenes but the editing made such a jumble of things that the effect was ruined.
Also, it seems to me that the one crucial thing that a Bond film must have is a good villain and Quantum just serves up a barely hyped evil businessman.
Bernard Madoff seems more Bond-scale than the twerp we got.
On the other hand, Slumdog Millionaire reminds me again of why movies can be magic.
Clever, engaging and yes, educational...I was exposed to characters and cultures that I would normally never encounter.
As a bonus, not only was the movie great but the final credits were among the best I've seen lately too.

Slumdog Millionaire.
Danny Boyle did great job.

I think MILK is the best film of the year. Singularly one of Penn's best performances and one of Gus's best films.
Love the Curious Case of Benjamin Button as well.
Slum Dog Millionaire was to soap operish and to gimmicky.
Whipped. Not the greatest movie by far but it was still funny. I'm a sucker for B-rated guy rom coms.
See ya in another life, brother.
