First of all I have to say that I'm not really a visual effects fan. Although I prefer movies based on a good story this is really something new. I can't say if it will change the movie making business but it's a very interesting point of view. And certainly the visual effects are more than impressive it's an experience I never had before

I don't want to spoil the fun of waiting for a movie but I have to point 2 things.
    a) The full title is Avatar: An IMAX 3D Experience. Trust it prefer a 3d theater it makes a difference
    b) The story is simple but not bad at all

    Law Abiding Citizen -

What a top film... I listened to everyone bang on about how good it was and kinda took it with a pinch of salt... last night's piss up fell thru so I ended up sat in, bored... decided to grab it and have a looksee... I was NOT disappointed.

Basically Gerard Butler plays a guy who's wife and kid get killed and raped in front of him... the prosecutor (Foxx) does Butler's character over and decides to keep his near perfect prosecutors records intact instead of doing the right things and trying them for the crimes they actually did commit as he wasn't sure if he would win them or not...

Jump 10 years into the future to now, when Foxx has a wife and daughter and 1 of the crims accused of doing over Butlers family is about to get the Lethal injection... it seems they didn't actually realise who Butler was or what he was capable of...

I'd give this film 9/10 and would have given it 10/10 if it had ended a little differently... who really was the bad guy in the film??

I think I'm gonna go watch it again now after this

    Really.
I saw it a few days ago and didn't think it was worth commenting upon.
    To each his own.

You'd probably enjoy Inside Man, I think.

    Law Abiding Citizen 7.5/10

I found this movie fascinating up to the point where it started to get overly non-realistic.

I just thought it was a great "fill an hour and a half film" that kept me wondering and guessing right up until almost the end... which for me was a little bit disappointing. I actually agree with the comments contained in your spoiler... those were exactly the same things that kinda wasted it for me too

    The Hunted (2003) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0269347/

The only man who can stop unstoppable gone off the deep-end ex-solider/government assassin is the very man who trained him or run through the jungle forest.

You take one Oscar winning director ( William Friedkin -French Connection ,The Exorcist),two Oscar winning actors ( Tommy Lee Jones ,Benicio Del Toro) add some award winning eye- candy in Connie Nielson and what could possibly go wrong? How about just about everything.
First Jones ,who I consider seriously over-rated , is totally unbelievable as the hard nails almost preternaturally gifted tracker/assassin trainer .For crying out loud he can't even run believably unless I didn't get the memo and all uber tough guys run like spastic little asthmatic girls .
The rest of the film is just as implausible ,equal parts contrivance and stupidity.
The only one that comes out relatively unscathed is Neilson but she is stuck in her usual role of on token female .
Give it a solid 4/10 not a total waste of time but almost.

    The Woodsman- Kevin Bacon.

A paroled child molester tries to make a life outside prison.
Almost everyone hates him and he still hasn't decided whether he hates himself.

Bacon somehow makes his character wrenchingly sympathetic as he nearly reoffends but struggles to become "normal".

Although dissimilar in nearly every way, The Woodsman brought Secretary to mind in the way that both movies look at marginalized people without flinching or sneering and make the viewer face the humanity underneath the weird.

    Not fun but worth watching.
