Thread: Anyone with AOL?

  1. #31
Well i'm all installed and online using the router

but it has cut off a couple of times so far. This sounds like a really stupid question but if i wanted to disconnect from the internet then how do i do it? because when i restarted my pc and clicked firefox i was connected already.

I take it i'm still not using my "connect to aol" icon on my desltop?

    Well done

Your ADSL router is permanently connected to the internet, that's how you're keeping the same IP address all the time now.

If you want to temporarily disconnect your PC from your router, then you should right-click on the little network icon in the system tray, and choose disable.

Do you need to do that? I thought you only need to do that if you're hosting an FTP site

Try turning on passive mode and see if that helps.

F6, Connection, Proxy, select your proxy, or none if you don't use one, and make sure 'Use Passive mode' is checked
