How do you rate the best ?
Has anyone done a comparison on what attacks various firewalls protect you from.
I have used Zonealarm Free for the last 2 years for 2 reasons, it is free and seemed to be quite popular on these boards (I had not heard of Outpost till now but this seems popular also).
The thing I do not like about Zonealarm is that its user interface is very clunky and non-intuitive !

The only bad one is the one not config right . It should at least ask for permissions to allow internet connections ,then you know its working right .
Then your antispyware program should flag it as should we allow this startup group to be added to your start menu , or something to that effect .
Look'n'stop. Nice lite firewall, doesn't hog system resources like some others. Comes preconfigured for most standard apps.
Outpost seems to excel in these tests.
Outpost has always been my recommendation, and I use 4.0. All the messages don't bother me,, it is for security and its neat how it'll detect changes (stops lotta bad progs and reminds me of Vista User Protection).
It's the ONLY security I have so less resources (includes Spyware plugin anyways). A-Virus, I swear AV software is a joke.![]()

@Hairbautt , ya it seems like a complete test , most firewalls Ive tried seem to be rated stealth or if not at least some info on how to config to make it so .
@Spaceboy , Look "N" Stop seems tooo secure under advanced rules , had problems with most P2P programs I use so gave it up . But its good for some who just wants to email and surf the net , nothing better .
I prefer Sygate Personal Firewall
i used to use zone alarm but now its all norton
agnitum outpost or visnetic
