    Phenomenal player.
You're a zappa fan interesting lol , what I would do to see that duet with Vai (black page from what I can recall), it'd be out of this freakin world

Jeff Loomis: He's so good, he doesn't need to be dead to have a tribute.

    There's that generational thing again.

    Zappa's another underappreciated player.

I've never heard the duet; at the relatively late date it must have taken place, I'm sure Zappa enjoyed being pushed a bit.

Everybody's heard the Zappa/Vai tale, but I must admit my readings of Musician/Guitarist predate Vai by a decade or so, and I've always been curious as to why Vai was such a big fan...

I have to say Dave Grohl and not for his work in Nirvana, his greatest drumming was done on the QOSTA album Songs For The Deaf absolutely mind blowing.

    Finalized list for now:

    1) Chris Adler (Lamb of God)
    2) Joey Jordison (Slipknot)
    3) Jason Bittner (Shadows Fall)
    4) Danney Carey (Tool)

Honorable Mentions: Derek Roddy (Hate Eternal) and
Lars Ulrich (Metallica) <--pre-Black Album days
The drummers on that list are the ones that set the standard and raise the bar EVERYTIME a new album of theirs is released. Before posting others, do the research (ok most research would be biased opinions), better yet, listen to some of their stuff.
