Here, in US dollars, is what the system would cost if I were to build it myself. All prices were shopped for and will slightlyy vary. I mostly buy online, ebay, newspaper rebates or at computer shows. I prefer the Pentium over the AMD...

Pentium4 2.0gHz $167.00
Gigabyte motherboard $76.00
60GB Western Digital HD $60.00 (after rebate)
Liteon DVD rom 52x $30.00
1.44 floppy $5.00
Tower cabinet w/500watt $35.00
17" Monitor Flatscreen $150.00 (See price)
Multimedia Keboard $7.00
Optical wheel mouse $8.00
Nivida Gforce 4 mx 440 128 meg With s video tv-out $65.00

Total $603.00 USD. In Canadian that is $836.728

So you did GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!

I assume that you will use the onboard audio. But you need some decent speakers (w/ center bass), so add $30.00USD

Then add $200.00 for XP Home. I can get XP Pro for $150.00USD at special computer shows.

Nice deal, though I see an update within a year (hard drive and video card )

Just get xp corporate of kazaa (one is pinned in verifieds, or get corporate in "verified hashes").

A processor I'd go for now is a P4 2.66GHz.

The hard drive is kind of limited as well, a 40GB is a mimimum, but others are considering 120, 160, 180 and 200GB HDDs.

You need a DVD-ROM and perhaps a CD-RW.
The video card seems fine .

the mx440 is ok, but in benchmarks, it's actually on a par with a geforce 3 (like i have)
it's good for general use, but for gaming it's a little weak
