Thread: Adrive now using RAW system file wheres ntfs

    Surprised/Amazed

    trying everything to format a floopy disk and found that its no longer ntfs file system. I believe my cd drive is the same. Any Ideas on how to switch back to ntfs ? plez any help would be great ..thnx in advance

    CDs/DVDs don't use the ntfs file system.


    What errors do you get trying to format?

    Floppies don't format in NTFS either.

    Nor do floopies for that matter.

    is it just fat?
    I remember there being a dropdown in XP with fat but can't remember if they had ntfs on the list...
    Been so long since i formatted a floppy.

    Yes, only FAT file system.

    it freezes up the computer.. A drive.does.
    even trying to open floppies with data on them

    error said something like ms cannot complete format.

    and properties show RAW not FAT [ i believe you guys are saying and r right about] seen some talk about it happening to partioned hhd's of a certain size.
    The stories I've read shows a big problem when this happens
