No! Goto this website and enter the model number to find out: http://www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdplayers. Also, you can select which format you want the player to read (DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW or both) and you'll get a list of compatible players.

Why bother - save yourself £50 and get better quality playback by using wireless transmission from your PC to your TV. Gigavideo Home Control can do this + saves you having to burn VCDs.

I have a Samsung and it plays DVD-RW's, DVD-R's and DVD+R's without a hitch. Hope this helps.

I would say Sony is by far superior, however Toshiba has always exceeded my expectations. The samsung I have was free with the purchase of my TV and is not prgressive scan. I would suggest a Sony with Progressive scan for between 150 and 200 dollars US would do everything and more than what you require.
