Well, rumor has it that emule (or edonkey) got it's name from the animal called Mule (duh), but as to why they chose this animal....well basicly it's because the mule is known to be relaiable but slow, and that is exactly what e-mule is, very reliable (practicly no fakes or corrupted files ) but relatively slow speeds....my speeds on emule range from 3kbps to 25kbps (ocasional peaks of 60-90kbps), on a average of around 11kbps. Not spectacular speeds, but it gets the job done.

And about where U'r downloads go, just click on "Preferences" (last button to the right), and go to "Directories" (5 down from "general"), and the directory under "Incoming files" is where U'r downloads go

This is about what I get too. The speeds aren't that impressive, but the files always seem to work. I've never had any problems with corruption or anything else.

The longer you leave emule running (and sharing stuff) the better your speeds go, i've had speeds up around 50 kB/s or so for extended amounts of time, it just takes patience

From my experience of eMule, I would have to say that it is usually very slow for downloading and also it takes a long time for the files to start downloading once selected for download...

I am a BroadBand user, incase anyone was wondering...

the only thing that annoys me with emule is the upload part i wont to set it to 2 files instead of 5 thats
giving me that way it would get files spreaded quicker.
