Public or Private Tracker

Are these sites public or private trackers http://www.mp3nova.org/ and http://www.mininova.org/. I am not really sure what are the differences between public and private. Also are these sites good for torrents or should I stay away from these for whatever reason.

Private Trackers: You need to sign up, usually needing to be invited from a existing member.

Mininova is a decent public tracker, don't know about the other.

in private, you need to upload and keep a good ratio(up/dl).
in public, you can leech ^-^

I wouldnt necessarily stay away from them altogether. I still find stuff in public torrent sites that i dont necessarily get in private ones. Sure, the speed is like molasses but thats expected. Just think of them as a last resort if you cant find what youre looking for in private sites.
