How Do I Make A Clean Xp Reinstallation?

I have Windows XP Home Edition and a Compaq computer and I want to reinstall my computer,a clean reinstallation cuz some driver is wicked and makes my computer crash all the time.

I have 2 partions is my computer which I had whe I bought the computer,one is the normal (C:/) and the other one is (D:/) which have files needed to reinstall the computer using "Recovery CD"
One day I was stupid and wanted too see what would happed if I formated the (D:/) partion and after that,I couldn´t reinstall my computer anymore with the Recovery CD so I called their service and they sended me a "QuickRestore CD" and with it I could reinstall my computer.

But now my graphic driver is fucked up,it makes my computer crash all the time and I have tried to uninstall it and then install the latest driver from Nvidia but it still crashes.This have only happen after I used the QuickRestore CD to get my computer to work again.I have tried to reinstall my computer using Recovery CD which worked after using the QuickRestore CD but it still crash.

Can someone tell me what should I do to make the driver not to crash even if it means reinstalling the computer in some "magic" way.

Do you have a copy of your windows installation disk (or at least a backup of your c:\i386\ directory on a CD) and a dos disk with fdisk? I usually find a format hits the spot in such circumstances!

All I have is "Recovery CD" and "QuickRestore"

I strongly recommend that you F Disk first.

But don'r forget that you need to set BIOS to boot from whatever boot sequence you need.

This is exactly why I don't want to ever buy a PC from one of those "Premade" computer firms. They don't provide you with a "real" version of Windows even though you paid for it.

If I were you I would download the Windows XP Corporate Edition and format the C: partition. That way you can start from scratch and not have to rely on Compaq anymore for support.

You can keep your D: for data storage so that whenever you want to reinstall your system you won't erase that.

I have heard that downloading a XP version can fuck up the computer too and it is not possible to install Service pack 1 or shit like that.

You won't physically "fuck up" your PC with software.

And it is possible to install SP1 on the Corp. Edition as long as you don't use a blacklisted key. (Get the 'bluelist' keygen)

In fact, download a bootable XP Corp. Edition with SP1 incorporated. That way you will already have SP1 when you install your OS.

I agree, go for getting yourself a copy of corp edition. You will be able to reinstall just fine - worry about the SP1 later, that's the easy bit!

ok anyone know where I can download it cuz if it´s a .BIN file,then it will problably be corrupt anyway.l

Boy, talk about a negative attitude. It's corrupt before you even start.

Look at this as a challenge. Once you succeed you will be pleased with yourself that you no longer have to rely on that recovery/restore disk.

Try downloading one from the verifieds and if that doesn't work try eMule or some other p2p.

If you get the .bin file be sure to get the .cue file that goes with it so that the CD is bootable.
