I am definately going to upgrade when this the 800 MHz system but with HT and DDR 400 comes out for slower speeds than 3.0 GHz. To which, I don't know exactly. I think, however, that my choice will be the 2.6 GHz with hyperthreading technology with an 800 MHz system bus and 768 MB DDR 400.

Right now I am running a 2.0 GHz with a 400 MHz system bus and 768 MB PC 800 RDRAM, which is still excellent, but I am exited to put it together and am gathering information from the messages on this board and planning on building this myself. I am wondering if I can afford it, and what to do if I have to get rid of my old tower whether or not I should replace it entirely or reuse components. My budget is approximately $1,000.

Right now is not the time to buy, because price drops are imminent and HyperThread is too.

Apparently, according to the above article, the 2.6 w/ HyperThread w/800 MHz FSB will be approximately $218. However, for HyperThread to even function, I need the proper chipset, (the 875 Canterwood model is supposed to be the premium) that supports 400 MHz Dual Channel DDR and RAID.

The above article says May 11 but I guess those dates are a bit off, I hear May 22...

Why get a 2.6ghz when you can get a 3.06 that's what i'm getting this xmas
