    I assume it is short for movie. I downloaded The Animatrix (all four) and they were all in mov files. How do i view these?

    Quicktime Alternative lets you use your existing player (it's just the codecs). Apple's Quicktime is a bigger install and uses its own player.

    Also unless you get the paid for Quicktime Pro you can't do proper full screen - you can if you use the alternative.
