your upload speed on a torrent also depends on the peers connected to you, as well

Most ISPs sell their internet speed based on the download speed. If you intend to be active in filesharing esp in bittorrents, check the upload speed for that plan. It would be very difficult for you to maintain a good ratio if your upload speed is very low. However, to remedy this, download less and upload longer..

pjvedder, go to a bandwidth test page and run a test. It'll show what your conn is in real life. But be sure to have closed any apps that use it (P2P or download menegers)

my school caps upload at 30k it is the absolute most annoying thing, minus the option of a seedbox (i think that would work) i dont think there is anything i can do about it either. my download on the otherhand is 10mbit

Just divide ur ISP's advertised speed by 8 n u'll get ur real connection speed. E.g. if u have a 10mbit download ur actual download speed should be around 1.2mb/s (10,000/8) n if u have a 1mbit upload then ur upload should be around 125kb/s (1000/8)

    hope that helps....
