I knew you had a ATI card, this is Common among people installing this game, Update your graphics Drivers and Try Direct x 9.0

updated drivers & direct x and now its running
unfortunately it is slow slow and jerky i'm not sure i can play this on my computer
i turned all the options to their lowes settings but its pretty unplayable
if ther are any tips on how to dumb it down, let me know

Yea turn off AntiAliasing, and lower your Level of Detail ( LOD ) Since i dont have a ATI based card i have a Geforce 4, i dont really know much about ATI's card, but im sure theres a tweak utility out there for your card
try Rage 3d radeon Tweaker on this site
http://download.guru3d.com/
click "video card utilities" then "overclocking and tweaking" and its the 10th one from the top" Rage 3d radeon Tweaker "
