Slightly off topic but still related...

What bittorrent clients are people running on their seedboxes?

AFAIK most people use TorrentFlux if its running Linux, or uTorrent if its Windows.

i've got my windows seedbox set up and running, but now im trying to FTP back to my computer.
i'm running serv-u on the seedbox, but can only get speeds of 8kb/s MAX download off of it.
    any suggestions?

Try changing FTPd's, Serv-U is terrible for speed. Try RaidenFTPD, or if you are cluey, ioFTPD (harder to setup). Also don't use a normal port... use a random one, they usually work better.

Also, when I am seeding extremely fast on my seedbox, FTP downloads are pathetic, like 10-20KB/s, but when I pause the seeding I get my full speed.

If you got a foreign seedbox speeds generally are slower to the US. Try using filezilla which gives you multi connections and downloads. On my seedbox I usually download max at 100KB on a single file, so I download 5 at a time and get 100KB on each, for a total of 500KB, just a suggestion.

all i need/want is 100-150kb/s, thats all i get on my home line anyway.
    i'll try another server.

also, i read somewhere to open the port.
is that opening the port on the server or on the computer im d/ling to?

[EDIT]ok, i d/ling and got filezilla working, but i'm still only getting like 13kB/s up even with nothing else using the servers bandwidth.

anything else i can do? [/EDIT]

horrible experience with hosting-ie.com. They told me it takes 10 business days for them to set up a dedicated server. I told them that paying 80/euro set up fee I should be getting one within 24/48 hrs. I requested a refund and they refused even though I never received my server and they offer 30 day money back guarantee on their website. Going with vectoral hopefully they give a better experience. for 5 bux a month more you get an extra 500GB transfer going from spyro to renacu atm.

I have heard some horror stories about vectoral having some setup time problems also.
