    Unsure

have died. The first one vanished from the bios right before my Motherboard died and now a second has died in the same month. Is this a coincidence or could something (cable modem?) have killed them both?

Do you know what killed your motherboard?

Could the same thing be killing your network cards?

If the PSU is providing overvoltage or spikes allowing through the then perhaps these cards are particularly prone to it, especially since they have a direct electrical route out of the case.

A faulty cable modem could theoretically cause this, but it would have difficulty getting past the network card to kill the motherboard too.

i'm not sure what happened to the motherboard, but the network cards were in different computers. The only things in common were the hard drives and the modem.

I'm using a different modem now. I still wish i knew what happened. Old house wiring?
