Thing is, Kazaa, Limewire and p2p programs like that make it unbearably simple to download files. Just click and it starts. Which is partly the reason for all the viruses. And partly why it is still used. People probably "don't know any better", so to speak.

I used kazaa a few weeks ago, for 1 song... after trying 3 copies of the song because it was infected with trojans... I stopped.

Torrents are so much safer and worth your time to learn.
Once you get into private trackers your set basically.

Torrents are pretty much point and click too at the basic level. I think people just use kazaa out of ignorance.
See ya in another life, brother.

On p2p programs like ares or limewire is that sometimes is easier to find ONE single song, or some south american artists that you can't find in torrents.

    for that there is soulseek...

they will always be because its a public p2p client. Stay away from those. Private trackers are far better

I still use Limewire and Soulseek for hard to find songs but 80% of the time i use bittorrent(utorrent) what.cd,btjunkie

limewire can be safe if you use commonsense like mp3s that are 3+minutes long but are less than 1mb in size or 10+mb in size are obvious malware.
also a good antivirus program like nod32 and malwarebytes can help.

Indeed, Kazaa and Gnutella Networks are full of viruses that's why I stopped using those networks and started using private trackers instead. Because private sites have an administration staff who do the job to clean bad files (the metadata or torrent to be precise) and only allow to share the good ones
