Interesting thread. When you say "Kazaa," do you mean pretty much any ARES and Gnutella netork-based clients? Kazaa, Limewire, Bearshare, KCEasy, and Frostwire all seem the same to me. Out of morbid curiosity, I tried downloading a few songs from those crap networks (using KCEasy and Frostwire). Around 50% of the songs were infected. Screw those networks in the ear.
The mention of AuidoGalaxy made me smile - I remember those days.
Anyone still using WinMX?
Soulseek is extremely handy. Filetopia and DC++ are great alternatives. Torrents are fine (uTorrent ftw). Usenet is fantastic. Rapidshare is great.
Anyone mess with Zultrax?
