I usually jump on new torrents just for seeding sake to build up my ratio. When I started at bitme the wait times made it difficult and it took me a while to get out of that hole.
find stuff that is not on the site already on public sites and upload them. not necessarily something you want yourself.

i usually cant find any torrent that i can seed. all of my downloads are 0 leecher.. well then i get ban lol

my ultimate trick is to systematically download everything that comes out of the RSS feed associated with the tracker for which i wanna boost my ratio... so if they have such a feed, just configure your stuff to grab everything: you'll be in the first couple peers and that typically pays off a lot...

One way to maintain a good ratio is to grab your favourite stuff as soon as it releases on the tracker. You can seed upto 2-3 ratios easily. Also make sure that you seed it to atleast 1.5 or 2 ratio for those torrents and by that, you can have a good amount of buffer on your account to be leeched upon later for older torrents.
The other way is ofcourse donation.
