I am sure this has been discussed before, but with newer apps. being released all the time, its nice to hear opinions.
I am using Roxios DVD builder at the moment to make my vcds. Uleads movie maker 2 just couldnt make a quality vcd.
At one time I had 5 or 6 different encoders on my system. Several were good as long as the avi was in the right format or audio range.
    Opinions please
    Thanks,
    Steve

I used tmpgenc as my last resort when the others would fail. It would just seem to take 6 to 8 hours to convert. It did have pretty good quality though!
With DVD builder it took about 3 hrs from encode to burn with a 300mg Avi(split of course..lol) and descent quality, but it uses 295mg of space to install the app.
I hear vitualdub is good, but haven't tried it in awhile.

it used to take me that long to encode with tmpgenc but, i learned that if i used virtual dub to change the audio to wave before encoding it cut time in half, also when i got a better computer it makes all the difference in the world, i can now encode a 2hr movie (700M) in 1 hour sometimes even less. i have a 2.4 processor,512 ram, 80G HD, r/XP
