Some points to think over. The PGA has never had a rule against any gender. It's not the MPGA.* Women have played before, although not in fifty years, and a woman will play in one more tournament this year. She was not taking a slot away from a progressing golfer. Every tournament has "exemptions" to hand out and the Colonial had eleven. Such slots go to a variety of people for a variety of reasons. Her publicity and the attendant $$$ made the Colonial, and CBS, think it was a good deal for them. It was. Contrary to what you may have heard, and what's been said in this thread, she doesn't lack the length to play Colonial. Her drives compared very favorably to her two playing partners. Had she not let the nerves get to her the second day, she could easily have made the cut and beaten quite a few men. Her limitation is really lack of wrist strength to handle the rough and the fact that's she's just a so-so putter. I don't see a token appearance like this as world-shaking. If she competed on a regular basis, she should, and would have to, go to Q-School. If she tried to get exemptions for every tournament, she would get turned down, after the novelty wore off. I don't think all need to worry about her competing week in - week out. OTOH, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see her become a fixture at the Colonial - the only tournament site that really fits her game.
*The LPGA does have a membership limitation to ladies only. This is perfectly legal under US laws.
